• Carol-Anne O' Brien

    Carol-Anne has a Master's and a PhD in social work and started working on LGBT young people’s issues in the early 1990s.  While living in Toronto for many years, she worked in feminist organisations, youth work and training.  From 1998 - 2009, she was a professor of social work in two universities in Ontario.  Carol-Anne joined BeLonG To in 2009. Her work is focussed on policy and advocacy initiatives to eliminate the homophobia and transphobia faced by LGBT young people in their schools and local communities.  Carol-Anne coordinates Stand Up! which is BeLonG To's annual awareness programme about homophobic and transphobic bullying of young people.
