Hello! We support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people in Ireland.
Feel free to look around
The project will develop best practice models for mainstreaming LGBT asylum seekers and refugees in the statutory and voluntary services which work with either asylum seekers and refugees or LGBT communities (with a focus on youth and young adults).
BeLonG To will provide training and capacity building to these services. We will also be providing direct support to LGBT asylum seeking and refugee young people (14-30 years) through our Project Youth Worker, John Duffy.
The project draws on advice and feedback from key partners in the statutory and NGO sectors. We will launch our Training Workshops in January 2012 and in December 2012 we will hold a seminar and release a report on the Project. The project will be completed in January 2013.
If you know of a young asylum seeker or refugee who could benefit from this project, please don’t hesitate to contact John Duffy. Our youth services offer young people a safe space where they can meet like-minded friends, receive one-to-one support, referrals, and links to our National Network.
The project is co-financed by the European Commission under the European Refugee Fund (ERF) and is supported by the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration in the Department of Justice and Equality, Pobal and the HSE. For any further information, please contact our Advocacy Officer, Carol-Anne O' Brien.
The LGBT Asylum Seekers and Refugees Project Training Programme was launched by the Head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office in Ireland, Sophie Magennis.
