Parent and Guardian Webinar: LGBTQ+ 101

A webinar for parents to help with confidently supporting your LGBTQ+ child

When: 7pm Tuesday, 21 April 2026

Where: Zoom

What We’ll Cover

Caring for an LGBTQ+ child or young person is an important and meaningful role—and many parents and carers want to offer the best support possible but aren’t always sure where to start.

Join us for this webinar designed to help you build confidence, deepen your understanding and create a home environment where your child feels as safe, valued and able to thrive as possible.

Together with our family support team, we’ll explore what different LGBTQ+ identities mean, the unique challenges many LGBTQ+ young people experience, and why family acceptance is one of the strongest protective factors for their mental health and wellbeing.

We’ll cover some practical, everyday strategies to help your child develop resilience and feel supported in their identity and support you to feel more informed and equipped in caring for your loved one.

Supporting you to:

  • Increase understanding of LGBTQ+ identities and experiences
  • Learn about the mental health challenges LGBTQ+ youth may face—and the powerful role of family support
  • Develop practical strategies to foster resilience and create supportive environments
  • Access resources and networks for ongoing support
