Update Belong To School Climate Report 2024

September 2024

As part of our ongoing work in schools, we have been conducting research concerning the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ young people in Irish post-primary schools for the past 5 years through our School Climate research in collaboration with Columbia University. We sought to undertake this research in 2024 with data collection taking place from May to July. Despite an extensive survey dissemination plan, the sample size for this research was not met. As a result, this research project will not be completed in 2024.

We want to thank all the young people who participated in the survey and all the stakeholders who supported recruitment. In response to these challenges, we will comprehensively consider the research recruitment methods utilised and engage young people in a consultation process to prevent such challenges to research endeavours moving forward.
